Different Places :: Different Faces

TWO FOR ONE

Today is the day!

We took our 7:00 am flight from DFW to LAX, and in a few hours we’ll be island bound!

Claudio is from California, so we’re going to take advantage of the West Coast while we can!

If it isn’t evident…I love Instagram. So I’ll be giving sneak peaks of our trip as seen by my iPhone.

We’re doing a lot of traveling this season and we love going back and reminiscing.

So we had to make a hashtag. (Can you see our kids in 10 years? “Mom, hashtags are so old school.”)

So check out #lvtakehawaii and the ever present #losvallejos for more fun along the way!

I hope everyone finds some time to relax this weekend!

Wife C

I am so ready to take a little time for some serious R&R.

Even though this year is just barely a fourth of the way through, it has been one crazy year so far.

When planning a trip, deciding what I am going to take and wear is among one of my favorite parts. This year, it seems I have developed a jewel-toned street style.

Recently, I discovered that the mens t-shirts at H&M fit perfectly and give me that effortless look I’ve been searching for. I have obtained quite a few since that discovery and I love just throwing one on and giving it a little front tuck on the way out the door.

My girlfriend Ashley sent me a picture of those cat-eye sunnies at Nordstrom and I have been pretty much obsessed with them. I love the retro vibe they give off, so I’m totally stoked to wear them with my streamlined high-waisted swimsuit.

A little over one week and counting to relaxation station.

Travel Season

We love to travel, and, thankfully, we’re fortunate enough to have many opportunities to do so. It is such a joy to share our travels with the world here at LV. This year we’re planning a few excursions!

Los Vallejos | Summer Vacation

We’ll take many trips to Austin, our muse, during the summer. It’s a fun and easy get away. It’s always a good idea to try and find a way to stay with friends. It’s inexpensive, and you get quality time with people you don’t see very often.

We’re running away to the islands in May with Claudio’s family. It will be my only week off of school for the entire year…so where better to spend it than soaking up the sun and sipping out of a pineapple?

Finally, we’re making our way up to Chi-town with some friends later in the summer. We have wanted to visit the Windy City for a while now and we’re thrilled to be traveling with such great friends!

In June we’ll celebrate our first year of marriage. We haven’t decided where we’re going, but you can be sure we’ll be jumping on a plane to somewhere! Any suggestions?

Love,

Wife C

CV + CV :: Hashtag Showlife // ACL 2013

YOU GUYS.

Our ACL journey was totally rad. Mind if I tell you about it?

//

We are usually SXSW people, but this year we ventured to the infamous Austin City Limits.

The line up was just as hot as the temperatures outside. Well-known and underground artists gracing the same stages for 3 days of outdoor hippie bliss.

Our main attractions were HAIM (learn more about this sister trio in our AS feature), Grimes, Vampire Weekend, Arctic Monkeys and finally…

We have loved Local Natives for years. Unfortunately, in the past each time an opportunity has presented itself to see them live… something has always gotten in our way.

Not this time!

LocNat

(excuse the cheesy thumbs up. I was clearly suffering from heat exhaustion + excitement)

These guys were totally rad and humble. It only deepened my appreciation for their music.

\

If you haven’t figured it out by now… I have a totally healthy obsession with these girls. HAIM has become a staple on my Spotify and the only vinyl I want to play.

You go girl

Grimes. What to say about Grimes? She’s not for the faint of heart or the severely dehydrated. So much dancing and spooky, funky, weird sounds all blended together by one blonde weirdo.

WE  LOVED IT.

If you’ve never been to ACL, it’s a massive festival spanning 3 days across Zilker Park in Austin. It’s difficult to see everyone you want to see and want to be in the front? Forget about it!

But it’s an experience worth having and we would recommend it to anyone!

Check back later for some ACL tips and tricks we picked up along the way.

We have so much to share in the coming weeks, but I will start with a few photos from our favorite moments.

CV + CV :: HAIM // Artist Spectrum

We are so ridiculously excited to make our way down to Austin this weekend!

ACL Here we come!

But first…

A lot of artists that play ACL end up doing shows during the week in surrounding cities like Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of being graced with HAIM’s presence here in the Big D. Oh my goodness.

What

A

Show

Seriously, I haven’t seen this much family talent since the Hanson Brothers. (90s kid shout out)

They were amazing. And funny. Let it be heard here and now…”Make out, make out, I just wanna make out, wanna get some take out?”…”Its going straight to the top” said youngest sister, Alana, about their tour bus song.

These LA based sisters totally rocked the show. It was a blast to watch them on stage together. These girls have such a great on stage chemistry. We laughed and danced all night long!

I love this video for their single “The Wire”. It shows off their funny side.

Their debut album, Days are Gone, is so good. My personal favorite is a track called Honey and I. If you haven’t listened to this album…it’s a serious must.

Opening for HAIM was IO Echo, also an LA based band, that was right on the money. Can I please get her kimono?

Los Vallejos Blog // IO Echo

I can’t even stand it I’m so excited to get to Weirdville. I’m ready to do some band lovin’ and consume some sweet, sweet Baby A’s. What chu know about them purple drinks?

Are you going to ACL? Have you listened to HAIM yet?

There is always more to come.

CV + CV :: Home Cooking // Grapevine, TX

Remember how we said we love food? Like, really love it?

Well, last week we went to a birthday dinner for CV1’s sweet father. The BIG 50 this year! The Vallejo’s love authentic Mexican food, which means we get to tag long for some great tacos and horchata!

There is this great little place in Grapevine, TX right off Main Street called Taqueria Burritos Locos.

Los Vallejos Blog // Grapevine, TXWe always come here on Friday nights. They have a live mariachi!

And if you read our last post, you know how much we love a good mariachi.

The Vallejos know good authentic Mexican food when they see it, and this place is the real deal. So real in fact, that most of the menu is in Spanish…For a Southern Sweetheart like me, I know I like “carnitas”, “horchata” and “frijoles”. But I leave the rest up to CV1.

We absolutely love this little hole in the wall. Here’s a pro tip: They give out free beer if you’re eating! We love their assortment of tacos, cinnamon-y horchata and festive atmosphere.

Let us know if you try it, they won’t let you down!
